    Default .223/5.56 Ammo Availability?

    Any educated guesses as to when it will be readily available again? I want to shoot but don't want to waste all my ammo if I can't get any more. I realize nobody has the actual answer but I'd like to hear some opinions/predictions as to when it might be readily available again.

    That being said, if anyone is selling brass case .223 of 5.56, let me know

    I would say hopefully after the Holidays are done we would start seeing the stores and online dealers would start getting them back in stock.

    My guess is that around April or May you might see quantities coming back up but prices will still be out of control.

    hell it took almost 4 years for the prices to fall after the 2008 election, and when he won prices jumped right back up.

    Nothing to be found in Cortland or Ithaca. Gander Mountain in Cicero where I got my Ruger 556 Friday (thankfully) was down to 3 boxes.

    My fear is that Cuomo is going to go after the ammo as well as the guns. I've been driving all over looking for anything I could get my hands on. Even paying $25 a box for Hornady.

    Bass-Pro in auburn has 223 and some 5.56....I bought all the brass I don't buy factory ammunition. Dicks across the road probably has ammo but they pulled all the ARs off the racks.

    Saw this massively overpriced offering for .223 on Armslist:

    ARMSLIST - For Sale: Federal Rifle Ammo .223, 1000 round case, 55 grain brass

    Selling it for $5.00 per round - that's what people pay (sometimes) for .50 caliber rifle rounds. I'm all for people making a profit off of their stuff, but this is really over the top. At $1.00 a round he would be making a good profit, this is just crazy. It will be even crazier if he gets it. I'm so glad I reload...

    I just came back from Bass-Pro, they have a good assortment of reloading components more than enough to fill my cart. The price is up on ammunition but they have plenty except for mil-spec which I can reload for about

    Brass & bullet combo = $179

    Primers =$35

    Powder = $100 for 8 pounds of 844, 844T or 846 so...7000 x 8 = 56000 grains/ 27 per round = 2074 rounds aprox. $50 for powder, this = $264 per thousand if you bought the brass.

    AND IF I AM USING MY OLD BRASS IT's...<drum roll>....are you sitting down?.....................................
    $179 per thousand plus the enjoyment of loading more accurate ammunition. Attachment 14447

    I don't think I can do that without going to jail...there must be a law on the books.

    They had some nice presses at Bass-Pro for $100, they pay for themselves in a hurry.

    UPDATE: Walmart in Fulton is now out of .223. I did see a couple boxes yesterday at dicks in shopping town mall. It was kind of expensive $29.99 per box.
    Also the Walmart in east Syracuse, cicero and clay are out. They do have .22 in stock now if anyone is looking.

    Anyone ever use this Black Gun ammo? I really can't find any reviews on the internet.

    The Camillus Walmart had a ton of Tula .223 in stock this past Sunday. I seriously wasn't expecting any to be on the shelf. I bought 15 boxes "just because."

    Midway stopped taking backorders on .223 and .308. Glad I got my orders in early.
