Until they stop selling to NYers.

Wal mart in matamoras wont sell pellet guns or pellets to NYC residents.

not only is there a background check - you have to provide your Social Security number, residence, and place of employment. If you value privacy, I recommend never buying ammunition in NY again.

Yeah I've been meaning to do that..... For at least 5 years. I regret not doing it when you could still mail them in..

It's getting harder to explain that to online suppliers.

And anyone purchasing 223 ammo that does not have an AR registered with the state will be red flagged.
If they are tracking volume you can damn well bet they will track types of ammo purchased. They will know what caliber gun you own just by looking at all this informantion on their little screens. Get as much ammo as you can before this goes into effect because it will have a very chilling effect.......... and some people cry about hoarders?

What? When did that happen? I got mine by mail a few years ago from Center County...will the renewal have to be in person now?

No way. I see tons of people shooting bolt action .223s. The system will not be sophisticated enough to do this.

No requirements for showing ID for ammo in PA or Vermont I believe.

Perfectly legal to buy ammo in a different state. Also most retailers in free states only verify that you are 18. Obviously some will give you a hard time but most won't.

I haven't run into any Wally World's refusing to sell to NY'ers BUT selling anything to someone in NYC I've heard of the refusal to sell to. I personally am hoping to move out of NYS. I hate traveling though so it's gonna have to be just across the border which is fairly close. Either that or take enough Xanax to make me fall asleep and the woman will have to carry my fat butt on a plane or stuff me in a car and GO!!

I predict this will be "posponed" aswell (before it gets repealed in court), this system is unconstitutional because it registers ammo buyers and will cost Millions to get up and running
    which wont get funding.

    Problems with BGCs for ammo:

    1. Information Collecting Sharing.
    2. Not many stores will do this for a small order. This leads to order minimums and/or FEEs for buying ammo.
    3. Wasted time and extra paperwork for FFLs.
    4. No system exists.
    5. Tons of false positives for "large quantity ammo purchases" reported to NYSP.
    6. Moot point due to the ability to go across state lines and buy.
    7. "Ammo" is not defined. Does this include components?
    8. This WILL overload any sort of BGC/NICS system.
9.Companies losing money/their entire business due to lack of revenue.

I'm sure the list is much longer.

Don't bring up #7. We don't want them to know about components.
