Default Pawn Shops That Sell Guns?

I hear a lot of people (mostly out of state) talk about buying guns at pawn shops. I can't say that I've been to too many pawn shops in my lifetime, but the few I have gone to, I didn't see any guns. My gut tells me that there's some sort of law in NY barring pawn shops from buying and selling guns, but maybe not? Anyone know what the deal is in this situation?

Ra-Lins here in Syracuse sells guns, including AR-15s and handguns.

Some of the best deals I have ever got came from pawn shops just outside large military bases, wherever they are! Never purchased guns, bought mostly electronics. My wife bought some jewelry.

I've never seen a "real" pawn shop in upstate NY. Real pawn shops deal in secured loans. All the "pawn" shops around here are just resale stores.

I imagine, if the owner was willing to go through the trouble to get an FFL, they could resell guns, as well.

Years ago (15 or so) there used to be one in Rome, NY that had guns.
Last time I was in there (about 5 yrs ago) no firearms at all.

It's too bad we couldn't get a list going of pawn shops that buy and sell guns. Might be good to have that on reference.

Maybe when I get some time I'll look up a list of all the pawn shops in NY and just start calling.

I'm surprised it's still around. That place has been open forever. I remember going in there with my dad (GreytSilly) when I was about 10 years old.

Funny, I just checked the pawn shops in Troy NY and they either no longer exist (2x) or don't stock guns (1x).

Though I hear there is one in Mechanicville that deals with collectibles.
