thats why you never buy a Gen 1. Got to work out the kinks. Look at the Shield and XDS all had recalls because they all rush to market.

I'd like to THINK that, even with Remington QC issues lately, he just got a lemon...but with where the brands seems to be heading...I just don't know.

I stopped at the Gander Mountain in Kingston today, they had one in the display case. I have wanted to get my hands on one since I first saw the video on the Remington website. Well as it so happens when the salesman took it out of the case and attempted to open the slide it wouldn't open, no matter what he attempted he could not rack the slide open. Tried dropping the magazine, tried reinserting the magazine, tried pulling, tried pushing, nothing worked. It was taken to the Gander gunsmith and he was unable to resolve it either.
The salesman told me that they had the same issue with the gun the day before but not as bad, guess I'll take that off my wish list till Reminton works out the kinks in a few years.

Well after getting a good look at the Remington 51 today it's looks like I'll be going with the Smith & Wesson Sheild instead.

I was the person at Gander in Kingston Yesterday that 'had the problem the day before' as quoted in CrisisBill post above......I had the R51 in my hands. I racked the slide twice with no problem. It was then handed back to the salesman, and he racked the slide a 3rd time, then he couldn't pull the trigger or rack the slide. It was like it was 'locked up'....he took it in back for a few minutes, then it ended up back in the case....

The two times i was able to rack the slide and pull the trigger the trigger was very bad...it was like it was binding up, very gritty, then when it let go almost felt like a spring uncoiling...like a 'sproinggggg'.

Needless to say i was not impressed with this gun, and the fact that the NEXT DAY, CrisisBill had the same problem.....

I am sticking with my S&W 3913NL for now... Not sure if this particular one is a lemon, or they are going to have to have some type of issue to correct.....

They are owned by a large group who owns DPMS, Bushmaster, Marlin, etc..
    Freedom Group Family of Companies
Remington are doing what they are told and lately following the spaghetti approach.
Throw it out there and see if it sticks. Instead of innovating and following through these marketing and sales Einsteins
mess it up many times and confuse their live long loyal customers who trust them. Like the 6.8spc they intiate something
great but fail to follow through with it and work against the enthusiasts instead of working WITH them.
Guess what there are plenty of smaller smarter companies out there to pickup the slack and make a fortune with
    quality and amazing customer service.
Still love my Remington 700 rifles and few other things but ask Marlin enthusiasts and others what is happening
    to them.
