Default Can't neuter a Norinco MAK-90 to make it legal?

Would someone confirm my opinion on this? Since preban rifles are no longer grandfathered in, am I right in understanding that any Chinese AK will be classified as an Assault Weapon, even if it has NO banned features, by virtue of the manufacturer alone? For example, even if you remove the pistol grip, a MAK-90, with no banned features will still be considered an Assault Weapon, correct?

Unfortunately it doesn't matter as AR-15s (and all copies) were named specifically, number of evil features doesn't apply.

I think the language [naming specific arms] was removed by amendment in the new bill.

Really? I'll have to check that out, I think I've been reading the senate version and not the signed one.

That's where I saw the strike through, in the Senate version.

Only "Colt AR-15" was specifically named in the original AWB list posted above (there wasn't the wide variety of makes and models back then that there are today). I believe Colt worked around this by releasing the "Sporter" version.

My understanding of the new law is that you are allowed to own an AR, or any other semi-auto rifle, without registering it, if it has only ONE banned feature. But, if you own a Colt AR-15 preban it won't be legal even if you completely neuter it somehow (a bullet button, for example).

Just putting this out there, but couldn't we come up with a modified A2 buttstock that eliminates the pistol grip on the AR? Wouldn't this eliminate the Evil feature making it not a AW? Just asking.
