Default Pistol as Assualt Weapon - Register it twice?

Say somebody has a pistol that is currently registered on their Pistol Permit.

Now say that particular pistol has (as of today) been redefined as an Assault Weapon due to being semi-auto and possessing an 'evil' feature.

Would the owner of said pistol need to register it again - as an AW?

Is double-registration actually the law now?

The state already knows you have it. It would be very easy to cross reference who has evil pistols vs who registered evil pistols.
You are already screwed, you might as well comply.

    This ^^

But to add to it, I'd wait a while to see where these lawsuits go.

I thought I saw in another thread that you don't have to register pistols as AW because they are already registered?

according to NYSP: being registered on your permit is with the county, AW needs to be registered with the state police. they specifically said, yes, you have to register it with the state.

but as said before, they have no idea what they are doing or talking about.

correct, because they changed it from 2 "evil" fetures to 1, the desert eagle is an assault weapon because it is over 50 oz. and semi automatic.
