Thanks Russ. I looked up the Town of Somers codes too. I didn't repost them because it would just end up in 100's of messages of arm-chair civil right's lawyer wannabes picking them apart.

You're correct - this guy has no leg to stand on but sounds like he can't see the trees through the forest. This is going to be a costly battle that he will likely lose. All he has to do is put the sign on the lawn in front of his house 15' from the road and be done with it.

    Hi nessman,
I'm a moderator over on glocktalk.com. We are following this event there, perhaps a be more objectively. Here is a link to the thread: Guy catches cop stealing his anti-gun control sign - Glock Talk

The controlling Somers Ordinance here is in Section 170 regarding signs. It clearly defines the setbacks from the edge of the road, 10', 15' and 20' based on the residential zoning. The thread has links to the code source pages. No one wants to quote them there. I would, but I didn't know how that might be received coming from an outsider from Virginia.

I do not think Gibson has a leg to stand on other than the massive publicity and the backlash if nothing is done. He was wrong, period. To cloak his violation with accusations of civil rights (lowercase intentional) violations is laughable.

My background is real estate, 30 years with plenty of experience with this topic.
