My wife knew about my shooting 40 years ago before we were married so she accepts my bitching about 2A issues.

My son doesn't shoot but agrees that if 2A goes down the tubes we'll lose more of our rights.

Even though she used to go to the range with me our daughter has turned into a bleeding heart liberal. We can't discuss any 2A issues without it turning into a shouting match. She's swallowed the anti's BS hook, line and sinker. "When the Constitution was written all they had were flintlocks!" To which I reply "So by your arguement the First Amendment only applies to manual printing presses, and the government can censor newspapers, radio, TV, and the Internet."

I told my wife that when I retire we're moving to another state. She used to think I was kidding but is coming around to the fact that I'm serious. Cuomo's criss-crossing the state handing out (our) money like he's throwing candy off a parade float, and with the RINO's in office the deck is really stacked against us.

    OK, off my soapbox......

The safe act has opened up my eyes fully when it comes to political gain vs the rights of human beings. forget the constitution. It is my right to protect myself. how dare you tell me I have only 7 chances to live if it comes down to it. My wife and kids laugh at my conversation as everything comes down to is it legal or illegal? I'm afraid to walk out of my house on Tuesday with blue jeans on. Not sure if we are allowed to wear blue on Tuesday. That's what life has become in Nyc. yes, it's that bad and scarey. The Rino Republican/democratic party has made so many laws here it's hard to know what's legal and what's not. I'm out of Ny in 12yrs as soon as the kids are old enough. I plan to die free, not under the blanket of restriction which all of us New Yorkers are currently living under.

That part about what it's good for , did you come up with anything yet because I'm having a hard time finding anything positive.

lol, take heart, your daughter may want to seem cool to her peers, but in reality your influence is undeniable and will show in the end.

For me it is the opposite. 3 sons, one CA oblivious to it all, one in NYC drinks the cool-aid, one at home doesn't want to speak about it, but my daughter who is an artist in NYC asked me recently to teach her how to shoot which was a shock.

I seriously think, women are our strongest allies for the 2nd lol.

Everyone in my family shoots..wife, 2 boys and the daughter. We are I guess you would say..rebels, anti-government to the max. So, NYSAFE has made us a stronger, more resolved family.

I move out of the state!

A far as your post goes, I have said it a thousand times if everyone would vote for only pro-gun candidates and let all of them know why you are voting for the pro-gun guy, anti-gun politicians would go away. However when you vote for gay rights, pro-pot candidates who is also against guns you get what you got! Look at what Obama is going to this country!

I am a lot less tolerant of people who voted or still back anti-gun politicians.

Bought a couple of guns I likely would not have otherwise (don't worry NSA/NYSP spies, they're not baby killing AR's) and have spent a bigger chunk of the ol' budget on ammo when I can find it. I've also spent a whole lot of spare time on this site. It's a rarity that I go a day without logging on at least once. Had some arguments with friends and relatives about the laws. I think I may have swayed a few and probably didn't accomplish a whole lot with some others. About par for the course I'd say.

Definitely woke me up to the plans of the gun grabbers and the rest of the freedom stealing socialist scum in this state and country. I used to poo poo folks who believed those thoughts but not any more. I also vowed never to never vote DemoRAT again because of Cuomo, though, with the RINOS and the gun grabbing Repbloodlicans in this state my choices are limited. Lucky for me my local reps all voted against unSAFE so they'll have my vote as long as they're in office.

It has not really effected us in a negative way. In a positive way it has... Since FTF transactions are a PITA now and ammo is hit and miss we have a ton of extra money now! haha

    Yes it has.
I will be sending tin boxes out of state tomorrow , I have owned them since 1995 but now I will be a criminal if I do not dispose of them.
Apparently the tyrant knows better than the 48 or so other Governors of the "free" states in the union. This is just not right, and the tipping point for us.
The self serving feel good knee jerk agenda of an ideological tyrant and his slow witted corrupt cronies have affected many good folks on here and across the state ,and not one person in a positive way on either side of the issue imo.
I love my home and community, and have been an active member in it volunteering etc., but I cannot continue to raise my family here in good conscience .
The quality of life here will only get worse ; more banning of freedoms, more intrusive regulations and the ability to prosper is becoming harder every day, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Myself and my family deserve better.
I have started researching the serious task of relocation.
Being forced to face the reality of a tyrant's will , Yes it has affected us.

    Not...one...bit.

My wife is very cool and since we make good money and don't have kids, we have disposable income. She doesn't question what I buy, and that's awesome since I've been buying a minimum of 100rds every weekend (often, more than that) for quite some time now.

When she does ask about certain things that pertain to this law, I can see her disgust on what it's doing to the firearm community--some of the best guys I know. She's a cool chick--I got lucky.

    Modern politics at its finest.

All the different effects this has had on people, and not one for what it was supposed to accomplish.

Any more words of wisdom Andy?

My wife, after talking about getting her pistol permit for about 15 years, finally submitted her application this past May.
She also has been paying more attention to politics. Now when I complain about something she is less likely to tell me to shut up and stop
    complaining.
On another note I have bought more guns and much more ammo than normal.

Wife is tired of hearing about it.

So I joined some groups. They never tire of hearing about it and we makes plans to do stuff about it.

I can't shoot as much as I use to because of the cost increase of ammo.

There is no one close by who can really help me since my brother just had a baby and has his own things to deal with down here and so far its just been a day to day thing, I'm stressed out, no longer financially secure due to my varying paychecks and all of my family is at least 700 miles away. I got nothing for anybody this christmas, I still owe my parents some money and I'm at the point where sometimes I have to take light bulbs out of various lamps until I get a paycheck so I can afford to actually buy a new pack of lightbulbs. Oh, and I still need to get my car and and my wifes license all switched over, and my registration and inspection are overdue, but I have no money to get them squared away. It's been a pain in the ass for me too, even though I dont even live there anymore, moving was just as difficult as staying would have been, I just hope I get a job soon that I can actually turn into a career and one that has steady, budgetable paychecks.
are you over on carolinashootersclub? there may be some guys in fayetteville that can help with jobs, and if you interested in hooking up for lunch, i'm down there pretty regularly for va appointments.

pretty much the same here. and I have motivated some of my family to be more politically active, and stock up on ammo, more firearms, etc... so they appreciate that I have stirred them up.

My lady has informed me that she isn't 100% positive if she will, or won't register when the time comes. Initially, I suggested some alternatives and tried to come up with some ways to persuade her. I've pointed her to the forum, offered alternatives, even offered to pay her double what she paid when she made her panic buy. Unfortunately, she is as headstrong as I am and is generally immune to persuasion by others.

Our last discussion ended with me informing her that I'm not willing to live with a "registered person" at a "registered address".

As an FU to AC and our corrupt legislature I purchased a Marlin model 60 because it has the attached tubular magazine and am waiting for Young manufacturing to turn out more of these: CQB Varmint Terminator – TRCK’d Out Marlin 60 « Thoughts from Dillon

It may be ugly but it flies in the face of this commie law.
My wife wasn't happy about another purchase but agreed it should make the proper anti safe statement.

Definitely more stress. Distancing myself from others who don't share the same mindset. If and when there is an uprising, due to my profession I will be an Conscientious Objector. My wife has been cool for the most part, is in the process of getting her CCW, but questions my past purchases. I, like many others, predicted this ammo situation, and took action.

I have been leaning increasingly right since this potus was elected. Engaging in more "prepper" education. I honestly feel bad for my children and other generations for having to endure what they will have to endure.

Agree with all who have posted about more stress. I have been a responsible shooter and gun owner for over 40 years, and our Governor's middle of the night passage of the SAFE act was all about his political career. Nothing in the SAFE act makes us any safer! I was already a life member of the NRA, but I have joined Second Amendment Foundation, SCOPE, and NYSRPA. I am literally counting the days (264) until I retire, and can move out of NYS!

Some of my friends are 100% in support, some are tired of hearing about it. She is used to my OCD kicking in for a hobby and this is just the latest thing. I'm sure it will cost me though in shoes but she understands why I've bought so much lately.

Never thought I would see the day we would wish for Paterson or nanny Bloomberg….

Definitely more stress, but a lot less after I realized I would not have to register. I shouldn't be compared to a child rapist because I want firearms to defend my family and enjoy as a hobby.
