Yikes I hope I dont have to wait 11 months. My brother in law got his permit maybe 2 years ago and he said it was no more than 8 weeks for him. My county had a article in the paper 1 month before I handed in my permit, saying how they had not given a ccw permit in 6 months due to a worker at the department of mental hygiene retiring, so they were backed up. The article said the issue had been solved with part time hires. maybe i'll call this week when i get a chance to see whats up. I checked the permit map and columbia is marked a green county which is cool. I guess I could call my local gun shop too they probably see a lot of new permit holders and what not.

Hello Meatcutta and welcome to the site, not sure about the wait time in Columbia County. It is anywhere from 3 months to 14 months here in Erie and I know that does not help you. Be patient as that is all you can do.

    Hello there,
    1st post.
I'm in the same situation here is Columbia County. Someone I know said it took 3 months. He got his this summer. Just a quick question how did they treat you when you got your fingerprints taken?

This link to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Pistol Permit page, might be able to answer your question(s). To the best of my knowledge, Columbia County issues full carry (CCW) pistol licenses with no restrictions. You should have your permit in hand by now.

    Default oh man

I got out of work a little late the thursday i planned to go and the officer was on his way out so I had to go back the next thursday. this time i went in the am to make sure i would make it. but i thought it went good the officer was very cool. how was your experience? just an update as of 4weeks ago the sheriffs dept. didnt have my last refrence questionaire so that held me up a bit but they informed my wife they had recieved it and now the ball is rolling with the whole process kinda bummed my last refrence took his sweet ass time but what can ya do. so i anticipate about 3 months from the end of oct. begining of nov. so if all goes well hopefully i will have my permit right on or around my bday. (jan.27) i got lots to keep me busy til then anyways work is picking up like crazy, new hunting rifle, thanksgiving, christmas, bday, vacation. i figure the longer i wait the more $ i will have more my first pistols anyways

Welcome aboard, Erie County last year for me was 3 1/2 months. A friend turned his in just after me, 12 months almost to the day. Luck of the draw sometimes. Either way, it IS worth the wait.

got my approval letter from the judge a week ago monday. so it took all of sept, oct, nov, and 2 weeks into dec. gotta give my county credit with the fast turn around time. It would have been a whole month sooner too but my last refrence had trouble with his Post office and there was a bit of a delay. so how long usually after you get your approval letter do they contact you to pick up your permit? I already bought my pistol, just need to pick up the permit so i can pick up my pistol.
