    Default Permit Application Oswego County

Hi Everyone, found this site while searching for permit info. I just picked up my application packet and found that in order to apply for concealed carry I have to fill out a form to show cause. Trouble is, I don't carry tons of money and I'm not in the security field. I have asked several friends that live in the county about it, but they all got their permits back when they gave them out like candy. I'm really wondering if anyone knows what sort of things are acceptable in my county. This is what I get for not doing it 10 years ago, lol. I would also like to know that if I were to be denied concealed carry, would my app be downgraded to keep on premises or thrown out? Thanks for any help you can give.

Well, thought I would have had a repy by now, but no matter, I have spoken with some friends yesterday that told me it was extremely difficult to obtain carry concealed so I will be happy to just receive my permit and look to upgrade in the future if need be.

Recent student experiences have proven the concealed permits are not that difficult to obtain in Oswego. You want your concealed for a reason, what is it? Sometimes the desire to exercise your lawful right to carry a firearm and protect yourself can be enough in a letter to the judge. Oswego is by far easier than neighboring county. If you are denied concealed in Oswego, the judge most often will place restrictions on your permit, not a complete denial.

Thanks for the reply. I have no intent to carry 24/7, but would like the ability to decide for myself when needed without fear of breaking the law. For instance, as an officer of my local union I have been required to carry valuable equipment for conferences, meetings and such at night, in less than desirable surroundings. I just wasn't sure if this was enough along with the desire to exercise my lawful right. I may still attempt it. Again, thanks for the reply.

I would incorporate exactly what you wrote about carrying valuable equipment, etc...in your letter.

You will want to say that you wish to carry for all lawful purposes. They want you to say what is unique about you versus every other citizen, being out at late hours, carrying or transporting valuable equipment those with ill intent my see as a target...get my drift?

instead of starting another OSWEGO thread, I'll ask here....

    hypothetical:
one person in one county has a pistol on their permit.
their child lives in OSWEGO and adds same pistol to theirs...is that legal?
I would think not since the one in oswego doesn't have possession of the pistols...then again, how would anyone know?
hypothetical situation asking in advance to avoid concerns.
