Default I know I'm going to get crap for this...re: fake can

I know this is definitely mall ninja and gun ricer territory, but I'm thinking about getting a Spike's Tactical fake SD can for my AR.

My upper is coming in and it currently has a flash suppressor and a threaded barrel (both no-nos) and instead of permanently attaching something useless that adds length, I'm thinking about permanently attaching something that doesn't add length.

Watch the video. Adds negligable length, but does add cool/lameness (depending on your mall ninja rating).

Hey, at least its not a pistol bayonet, right? ;D (Kidding!)

Is the gun you're building just a range toy?

I would say don't go with a fake can. It's just asking for someone to call the cops on you. I would go with a compensator, it doesn't add on useless length. If you get the right one it will severely decrease muzzle rise.

That's a pretty cool looking device. I especially like this:

    SKU: AR-FSC556
    Weight: 0 lbs 2 ozs
A flash suppressing version of the DNTC compensator.

    Followed by this:

This device has been classified as a non-flash suppressing device by the BATFE. See the document here.

The FC556 is sweet, but I'm frugal. I bought a Miculek brake on Midway, they're on sale right now.

The full auto before/after vids of the FC556 are awesome, though.

Just to show how much fo a noob I am, how is any compensator designed to accomodate a supressor going to comply with NY's ludicrous AWB rules?

NY law says "a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor"

Being able to accommodate a suppressor isn't written in the law anywhere.
