Excellent news. Cannot wait for this place to open. I try and stay as far away as possible from Niagara Gun Range.

I too am anxious for this to come. I am afraid to even step foot in Niagara....it seems like the nerdy 7th grader that walks into the smokers bathroom in high school. We all know what happened to them right! Where else can us WNY'ers go? I know about the swamps, some local clubs and a couple people with "enough" land in the right place but it's still a PITA.

Looked up Wolcott guns on Google. Looks like they're already a dealer out of a house apparently.

I haven't been to Niagara....just going off what others say about it and not just hearsay from this forum either. I live just a few miles from there so it sucks. On top of that it seems expensive so that and ammo prices have put a hault on shooting lately.

No Volvo's.....Cummins for winter, mustang for summer and a civic for groceries. I keep the same name on all the forums and it all goes back to snowmobiles.

Dont count out Niagara gun range. I dont go there much any more as I live about 30 miles away, but the owner is a great guy and its a nice little range...and the only indoor one I know of in this area as well. Its a little pricey per hour and only 50 yards, but it is nice none the less. The only bad thing I have to say about them is when young punks go to the range and practice poor firearm safety and try to fire their weapon like Tony Montana or Bruce Willis in die hard.

No prices or anything yet. I'll become a member even though my permit is still a year away just to support a local business.

It appears that the opening is slated for June, if all goes well I'm sure. The article also discusses a new potential range in West Seneca. They are trying to get approval this Thursday in front of the town board. Go and show your support!

Was it tabled until another date or indefinitely? Did they have something else they needed to get to right away? I dabbled in parliamentary procedure in college and I'll have to dust off my old edition of Roberts Rules of Order to figure this one out.

EDIT: Apparently this was in front of the Planning Board not the Town Board? Damn wish I could have been there.

Apparently the town board has to change firearm rules in the town before it can be ok'd. West Seneca planners table proposal for indoor gun range - City & Region - The Buffalo News
Restrictions in West Seneca's town code prevented the town's Planning Board from moving forward Thursday on a proposal to develop a 27,000-square-foot indoor public gun range on North America and Ransier drives, according to Shawn P. Martin, town attorney.

A request for a special permit made by Ransier Development Corp. to change the zoning classification of the parcel where it plans to build the indoor shooting range designed for long gun, pistol and bow target practice was tabled by the Planning Board just minutes after a hastily called executive session.

“Issues regarding firearms are specifically reserved to the Town Board,” said Martin, explaining that current prohibitions in Section 74 of the town's code would legally restrict any action the Planning Board could have taken Thursday.

According to Section 74: “All persons, firms, corporations or associations are hereby prohibited ... within ... the town of West Seneca from using and discharging any firearms unless the same be by permission granted in writing by the town board.” Offenders would be guilty of a violation, the code stipulates, and punishable by a fine up to $250 or 15 days in jail for each offense.

As quickly as the agenda item came to the floor, members of the Planning Board, Martin and the petitioners from Ransier retreated outside of the public meeting. When they returned, Planning Board members tabled the measure without any further discussion.

“This issue is going to be addressed at Monday's Town Board meeting,” explained Martin without elaborating.

It appeared that Planning Board members were advised they were precluded from granting any such approval on the issue before them Thursday without express permission for firearm use granted by the Town Board.

It remained unclear whether that permission would need to be granted only to the developer and owners of the range or to each and every public patron using it.

Those were issues that town officials said they'd need to hammer out in the coming days.

Among the Town Board's options at Monday's meeting could be expressly granting that permission to Ransier to operate the gun range or amending Sec. 74 and any other pertinent sections of the town code with respect to discharging firearms.

I'm 30..which some would consider young, and I know better. The comment you made is all the reason not to step foot in the door for me, and I've warned everyone I can. Poor firearm safety = accident waiting to happen, and they won't ever get my business. Turns out I know some folks related to and good friends with the Depew ranges owner..I have high hopes for the place. Can't wait till it opens!

This is awesome news. June is a stone throw away and they will be getting my business 100%! Also, thanks for the article Mark, I had no idea there was a range proposal in West Seneca. That would be even closer to me and sweet as pie.
