Default NYF blocked from hotmail / outlook / msn / live.com addresses.

All of these addresses are part of the Microsoft Network family.

I do not yet know exactly why, but due to emails regarding unconfirmed new accounts it has come to my attention that emails from our NYFirearms.com email addresses are being rejected for delivery to these addressees.

The error code of 550 SC-001 shown here says

Mail rejected by Outlook.com for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your Email/Internet Service Provider for help.
I'm posting this so people with these addresses know we can't currently answer their emails and new accounts will not able to complete registration.

Also, if your account is currently associated with one of these addresses you might want to change it so you can get emails.

The site owner has been notified and hopefully this will be resolved quickly. I'll keep this updated (or just delete it when the problem has been solved). I'm guessing this is all part of the same string of things that's causing us to be blocked by norton and such.

Bringing this to the top because not a single day goes by that there aren't contact emails of people saying they can't emails and they don't seem to understand that we can't write them back. It's not just registration emails; we can't even send replies to those addresses at all.

All MSN based emails (which are quite a few popular ones) are blocked from us.

I haven't been able to be on the forum much but I stopped on quick to give this a bump because there's a bunch of new site emails (consistently) from sign-ups with hotmail accounts wondering why they cant complete registration. We CAN'T even answer your emails.

*sigh* I'm so tired of trying to work around all these site problems and not being able to do anything about it.

Aaah. So that's why I don't get emails telling me subscribed threads where posted to. Eh.

None. The site owner would have to work out the problems that keep getting us listed as spam and then deal with getting us removed from these established block lists. This is not something that I'm able to do myself (Well, technically speaking I probably could, but I don't have the access/authority).

One other little note on this. What I'm doing now when I get the chance is deleting new accounts made with these emails so that we don't have ghost accounts unable to be used and to give the people the opportunity to re-register the usernames with alternate addresses that will work. Of course I'm not deleting currently established accounts; that should go without saying but I'm saying it anyway so no one freaks out. (There's always at least one if I'm not super specific in these things.. heh)

Unfortunately however it would seem no one making new accounts is seeing this thread because I haven't seen any attempts to re-register using alternate emails but HAVE seen people just trying to register the same name over and over using the same email that isn't going to work. Of course I'm unable to email them to explain this.

    *Le sigh*

Sounds reasonable--I actually use hotmail for this forum but as long as I don't need to change my pass anytime soon should be okay.

One thing you could do is setup a temporary account at yahoo or something just to email anybody who tries to setup a new account. I know the preference is to have all emails come from your domain, but this way you need not use your own private email to reach out to them. I know it's a lot of thankless work...

I'm not sure how the forum software works, but I'd figure a warning could be posted on the signup page. I use SMF on my forums and I've had issues with people not getting registration e-mails. I made my e-mail address available (someone visible, I forget where) and told people to e-mail me if they have issues. A couple people did.

I haven't yet fully tested our outgoing capabilities to all the domains involved but this problem at least may indeed be over, at least for now. I've noticed a couple of new successful registrations over the last few days from hotmail.com addresses.

    That's a good sign.

It can be a task getting removed from those "blacklists". AOL will not immediately transfer emails from my domain - it usually takes 2-3 days.
There are a few casinos that have their own domains, not AOL which will also not accept ANY emails from any of my 3 email domains (2 of go daddy one on enom).

It's been quite the challenge getting this resolved. For AOL, it has taken YEARS and still no resolution. The issue followed me from Intermedia, to my own in house mail server, to go daddy.
