Default Earned my Winterseed Patch! Pretty Proud of myself!

Been so darn busy didnt have time to post this, but attended an Appleseed event a few weeks ago when it was about 12 degrees here on Long Island. I learned SO MUCH that day, not only improved my marksmanship skills (I got Rifleman 5x believe it or not, scored 219,222, 230, 232 and 220) but also about the history of events leading up to the Revolutionary War, things I never knew. A really inspiring day, I cant recommend it enough for those who havent attended an Appleseed event.
And since conditions were such that it was below freezing and we had some wind, snow, etc., I earned the elusive Winterseed patch. I may frame it!

Me on the right. The camera adds 10 lbs., or in this case, 30 lol:

Thanks all! I really cant stress enough what a great event this is, no pressure at all no matter what skill level. You WILL learn alot - Ive been shooting since the mid 80's and am always open to improving skills and unlearning bad habits. Sign up for one, if you have kids who shoot even better, you and they will love it.

Stock 10/22 with the exception of changing out the stock trigger with Rugers new BX trigger and replaced the bolt release with an auto-bolt release. Plus a Nikon P-Rimfire scope, 2-7X32 with Nikoplex recticle.
BTW - started using Winchester M-22 ammo, what crap. Had a failure to fire after almost every 10 rounds, some bullets were seated in the case at odd angles, made them look like hockey sticks. After shooting about 50 rounds and having 10 or 15 fail to fire a buddy gave me a box of CCI Tom Landry ammo. Thank god, probably wouldn't have earned the patch using the M-22 crap (and yes, its post recall M-22 ammo).

Well done. From what I've read, use of slings is taught. What kind of a sling on the 10/22? Thinking about going to the Appleseed outside of Rochester in the fall and want to set up my 10/22 for it.

Yes! I used the new USGI version of the M1 sling which is the recommended sling from RWVA, heres the link:

    Sights & Slings

Unbelievable how much more stable the sling makes you.

I call shenanigans, there's no visible snow!

Seriously that's awesome, I didn't know that patch even existed, very cool. I've only been to one (full-weekend) Appleseed, didn't shoot too well but I was using crap ammo. I want to do another but every event is at least 2 hours from CNY. And I'd rather not stay overnight anywhere for the weekend with my gear.

    One of these days..

Haha, yes we had flurries later that day and more of a mix moved in on Sunday. The frigid temps and the wind pushed us over the top...brrr
