Ya I know, I get bored.
I like going from one firearm to the next. The builds are fun for me as well.
Can't wait to take her out and shoot it this weekend.

Looks like it will be fun. Also just curious but what made you choose the 17 over the 34?

SJC makes all the race parts for the g17 not a g34.
Plus I like the size over the g17.

Only ever shot a Glock once and it was a g17.
Liked how it felt so went with that one.

The sight over bore is pretty significant. You could lop of the blast shield, remove the CMORE and install a Delta Point to get the sight over bore a bit closer. That is why the open guys are now mounting their CMORE sideways for sight over bore and also for ejection issues for open 9mm guns

Other than that .... Nice Blaster !!

    Default Finally Home

Well after UPS losing my barrel and comp.... blah blah blah

I was able to get all the parts to Bobby Carver at Carver Customs to finish the slide work for me.

Finished putting her together and fired the first 100 rounds tonight.

Nice smooth gun, a few small failures but she needs to break in still.
Hope to get another couple hundred through it this weekend!

Get a Charlie Vaneck trigger for your G17. Go for his top of the line drop in. He does an amazing job! Mine is close to 2#'s as tested with a Lyman trigger pull gauge. That will bring your group size down considerably from a stock trigger...figure $250 also look into a un captured guide rod and a 13 round spring...you will have to test 11, 13, 15 # guide rod recoil springs to get the right set up...I found 13 was perfect using a comp for mine...stock recoil spring is too stiff for a comped barrel

Chris, looks very nice. Question for you. I have a G22 also and want to turn it to an unlimited. Who did you SJC red dot mount? Is that a gunsmith or DIY.

    Careful and Steady DIY.
Took about an hour or two of dremel work and test fitting and refitting.
It was fun though, if you do it yourself a little at a time.

If you don't mind my asking are you shooting 9mm Major or Minor? I was curious at what pressure you needed to run that compensator for it to function as intended. I'm also curious to see how the gun holds up with a steady diet of 9mm major loads.

    Thanks,
    -Mike

Currently shooting Minor right now. My goal is to start reloading in the next few months. The first 400 rounds of winchester white box 115g were near perfect. Been trying other 115g and the gun has not been cycling well. Love the gun but the SJC Major comp needs a hotter load to function properly. I would Love to trying some beefier loads but i don't have a reloader yet

Shooting my first USPSA match with my SJC Glock 17 Open Race Gun - YouTube

Here was my first match ever with it. Not fast by far but my first race gun and only a couple hundred rounds into her before that. Plus it was raining out...

Just get a pack of recoil springs, you should be using a softer one than stock.

    Chris,

The spring for minor with a comp seems to be the 11lb look here and you can pick a couple. Glock Warehouse - Product Detail - ISMI Recoil Spring
