Where to hunt/target shoot in Downstate area?

Can we put together a list of all the state/county parks, refugees, land, forests where it is legal to hunt and/or practice shooting/sight in your gun?

Im looking specifically for Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, and Sullivan counties.

Hunting and target shooting will be vastly different lists. Many state parks and WMA are open to hunting but not target shooting. Look at the DEC web site and it should tell you.

NSSF has a where to shoot page. You search by zip code and a list of ranges will come up along with a map.

Times have changed. You’re better off joining a club with an outdoor range. There are restrictions against target shooting on dec lands during season and most of the lands are opened up to hikers and mountain bikers.
