They want to make civilians less likely to be able to be resistant to law enforcement firearms. Given North Hollywood shootout, this has been discussed in law enforcement circles. Engaging in failure to stop drills under stress or at distance is difficult. Since most training emphasizes COM first, this is easy to understand. The vast majority of law abiding citizens don't wear body armor, so I imagine they think those who can't produce a work related reason might be suspect of their intentions. Wearing body armor is unpleasant so everyday folks probably don't want to.

Because there is no good reason that we need one. Other than criminals and militia what private citizens want them?

Maybe the fact that the criminals are now running the city would prompt some to wear vests. I’m not a criminal nor am I in a militia and I own one!

This is what happens when Republicans do nothing and play defense all the time. So now we have to fight this. Instead of doing things like trying to make pistol ownership easier relaxing gun laws thereby putting the socialists on defense, we are stuck in a defensive posture, having to justify everything. That is why Trump was so popular with us and hated by the Dems/Socialists. He constantly attacked them and put them on defense, showing us their true colors. We could take a lesson from that.

What has Trump really done over the 4 years to expand our liberties and 2A rights? Did he relax guns laws? Did I miss something?

I'm shocked the more I read on pro firearm and pro 2A sites, that people keep mentioning 'need' as a requirement to own things. I don't 'need' a 60" flat screen TV but I have a few. I don't 'need' many things in my life. I also don't see 'need' in the 2nd amendment. Come on people - get your priorities straight. If the Dem / Libs / Communists/ Socialist get their way - you wont 'need' any income beyond a median wage. 'Redistribute' the wealth LOL

Who will be legitimizing our 'needs'??

Body armor is perfectly legal in NYS except if wearing during the commission of a crime. There have been several instances where individuals were stopped by police, found to be wearing body armor, and given the drilling of their life. Most cops only see it as YOU MUST HAVE a legal reason to be wearing it. Although that isn’t the case you may even be arrested and have to explain your case to a judge.

Ok, let me reword my previous... Why do any private citizens really NEED a vest? as in a legitimate need.

Given most police officers level of proficiency with a firearm and government unwillingness to address their ineptitude, civilian use of ballistic armor ought to be a requirement for venturing outside.

Why do you Need a swimming pool ? Why do I need baseball caps? This isnt a need issue. I legitimate reason I want to own and wear a bullet proof vest is I live near and drive into Newburgh. There were 28 gun shots in a weekend over the summer. https://dailyvoice.com/new-york/nort...ce-say/801384/
