    Default So Other Firearms

Now that nearly every major FFL is carrying "Other" AR-15/10 builds, buy em while you can. Already have two myself. Even Blue Line in westchester is now carrying POF "Other Firearms" which is a major LEO Hotspot for buying/training.

I get what you're getting at, but I need more information on these "other firearms." PM if you don't want to post it?

I can’t see how these other builds bypass the safe act. I know many people are building these and the safe act says riffle, pistol, or shotgun and these are classified as others. I know NYS and you will be arrested and charged. Good luck getting out of it. I’m not risking it. It maybe legal by the thinnest of definitions, but not worth the hassle and/or legal fees IMO.

I got mine from L&L, Thinking about getting Bluelines AR10 in .308 but also considering a 6.5 Creedmoor build.

Other's are not a pistol nor rifle.

It's not a rifle because it has a pistol brace
It's not a pistol because it's meant to be used with two hands (Vertical foregrip)
It's not an AOW//NFA Item because of OAL is >26"

A right not exercised is a right lost, we already lost too many rights in NY, and with the democraps ruling all branches of state government (not that the RINOS were any better) there will only be more infringements heading our way. If you do decide to build or buy one of these I hope you have enough disposable funds to defend yourself in court (If caught). While this is legal by the definition of the law the anti gun DA won't care, even if you do win and get your freedom and property back the damage has already been done. Are you willing to spend time in jail, hundreds of thousands of dollars in lawyer fees, just to prove a point? If anything a "win" with these "others" will only motivate FUAC and his democrap minions to pass more infringements. NY is a lost cause, if you can MOVE, and enjoy life before the rest of the country falls to the democrap socialist dictatorship.

Fear is a powerful weapon that liberals exercise all too often to have us give up our rights. These other firearms are good to go. They’re flying off the shelves. State police are aware of them just as they are the shotguns that preceded them. They have stated they are perfectly legal. IMHO, they’d have to make a major amendment to the Safe Act that dealt specifically with banning them, which like the Safe Act, would allow registration or modification to make them compliant.

I never see them for sale anywhere around Buffalo area and they are never at the gun show here. I don’t know. Do you have anything from the state police and how do you know they are aware of them and are fine with them? I agree the letter of the law may allow them, but how would a jury see it?

Blueline Tactical is an LEO hot spot for training and pistol purchases for Local, County, State, Federal. They are selling others. State Troopers have been to Westchesters Range and do not bother those with others. I haven't even heard of a point where they checked to verify it's an "Other". The second you see a pistol brace (Which officers who are sent to inspect guns) they don't do anything.

Just because those individual troopers don’t give a damn means nothing in NY. Heck they might even ignore the safe act like many LEO already do unless an actual crime is being committed. You have to understand the NYS police will never issue a legal written opinion on what is unSafe act compliant or not. Unlike California which has similar nazi gun laws, we do not have a DOJ that makes guidelines on what firearm configurations are legal to own. One NYS dealer in firearms from Long Island spoke with the state police over the phone and was told that they consider the arm brace a stock making it an “AW” and a SBR. Take that information for what it is, it’s not a legal opinion. If you call the safe act hotline, the troopers headquarters, and your local PD you will get different conflicting answers on different days of the week.
And yes I do believe this “other” is NYS legal (at least for now) and I have held one at the only gun store in my area that is (or was) selling them but I think they’re way overpriced. Telling others this is kosher to buy because some gun stores are selling them is not the best way to bring awareness, do it at your own risk, preferably store it in a free state.
Look up the 2011 Nassau County gun store raids, all it takes is one cýntof a DA.

My dads a cop, well recently retired, I’ll see him tonight and I’ll ask him what he would do if he ran into one of these. I won’t give him the background I’ll just describe the gun because I’m guessing most cops don’t even know what an other classification is on a firearm. He’s pretty progun too.

He said he wasn't sure on the legality of the others. When I asked what do you think about the guns features he said pistol grip is a no go. I asked what about the flash hider he said what’s that? That’s what your dealing with these cops simply don’t know so it all depends on who you run into n

In other words, buy or build this at your own risk and don’t be the first person to get arrested, you are left to the mercy of the first cop or DA that wants to make a publicity stunt out of this.

That’s putting it mildly, i’ve Spoken to cops/retired cops that thought ALL ar15s are illegal to own irregardless of features, and did not know a NYS Pistol license is invalid in NYC unless retired LEO or validated by the police commissioner.
