"The event, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature information about New York State gun laws and rules gun owners should know"

Thank you for coming folks. Don't speak unless spoken to.

I'd not be so quick to judge, based on the panel.

I will be at this event. As will my wife.

Instead of advertising this as beingfor gun owners why not make it an info sessionfor citizens. Some of these non gun owners need to learn what is already in place and how not easy this is.
Most of the public is under the impression our laws are at 1 and think 'reaaonable' means pushing up to a 5 and a 5 or so is what they think is reasonable balance - 7 might be too far. But they dont realize the laws are already at a 10 and the 'reasonable' changes the NYC pols want is to crank it to 5,000.

Although I do wish we had more legislators like that one lady from NYC that wanted to change the law so you could buy and own a full auto machine gun in NY state after a background check. Yes, please make that change to 'tighten' the laws. (She honestly believed you could legally buy a full auto M16 at any gun shop or gun show and walk oit with it in 5 minutes without showing ID.
Maybe thats a tactic. Crank the paranoia so high by making people believe there is zero regulation atball and the anti gunners will be promoting changes in the law that actually lower the restrictions. (PersonallyI find it telling about a persons idea of 'reasonable' controls when they think the current law is nothing)
The nation that will insist on drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking done by cowards.

For those not familiar with Carmel or Putnam County, they are more then Pro 2A. They have a shale issue approach too pistol permits, turn around is significantly quicker then most counties and full carry permits are not just reserved for the elite. Being less then a mile from the border of Putnam it is quite frustrating really.

Causation or correlation... That Putnam County enjoys highest number of carry permits and some of the lowest crime rates in the State?

I went to this years meeting wasn't anything special a lot of politicians patting each other on the back. This year focused on the laws of Article 35 which is when Deadly Force or force in general is justified, afterwords it was typical pandering. When it came to questions about permits and why Putnam is becoming less 2A friendly questions were dodged or danced around accordingly. The biggest questions being asked was about Full Carry being harder to obtain and the permit process taking longer than any surrounding county including Westchester.
