Smile Resolutions denying NYS the right to use county seal/logo/name are picking up steam:

From: County Seal / Logo / Name resolutions | NY SAFE Resolutions

Counties have begun passing resolutions denying New York state the right to use their county seal, logo, name, etc from being used in conjunction with SAFE act related letters or other messages (for example pistol permit renewals). This is a method to show continued resistance and to prevent county residents from thinking their county endorses the so called SAFE act in any way.

Cuomo should put his face on the letterhead instead. Since he's so proud of his new gun laws.

Then I guess they would get back a lot of applications with puke on them.

    What I sent him:

    Good evening Mr. Dougherty,

I spoke to you many months back regarding passing a resolution (albeit symbolic) against the SAFE Act. First, I would like to thank you all for passing a resolution against it. It shows that we are all in solidarity against the SAFE Act. In continuing the fight against unjust laws, I would like to ask that the legislature also consider a Resolution denying the State of New York permission to use the Onondaga County Seal and name in enforcement of the so-called SAFE Act, as several other counties have recently done.

If you would take a moment to visit NY SAFE Resolutions | Documenting County and Town resolutions on the NY SAFE act for more information, or see what one county (Wayne County in this case) has done in the below link; I, and many others, would be grateful.

Reply from John Dougherty 2nd district, clay, onondaga

    Mr. [Me],

This is the first I have heard of anything like this. It's an interesting idea. Let me discuss it with the rest of the legislature and I'll get back to you.

When will your County join the ranks of other NY counties with this action?

Here, send this to your county executives (credit Hardrada):

Thank you for passing a resolution (albeit symbolic) against the SAFE Act. It shows that we are all in solidarity against this infringement upon the rights of law-abiding citizens. In continuing the fight against unjust laws, I would like to ask that the legislature also consider a Resolution denying the State of New York permission to use the <your county> Seal and name in enforcement of the so-called SAFE Act, as several other counties have recently done. Regardless of the political implications, consider this: If the State is allowed to Include your County Seal on these correspondences it will be your County Clerk's office that will be inundated with unnecessary phone calls and emails questioning the new process instead of the NY State Police who are actually tasked with enforcement.

If you would take a moment to visit NY SAFE Resolutions | Documenting County and Town resolutions on the NY SAFE act for more information and to see what other Counties have done, I and many others would be grateful.

    Thank you for your time,

    <your name>

I believe I read somewhere that Oswego County is taking up (or has taken up) the issue. Same with Yates. I haven't dug for the results yet.

Monroe County has apparently passed a resolution in the odd manner in which Monroe County does same.

Allegany did it on December 4th. http://www.alleganyco.com/meeting_mi...ubSaf/Dec4.htm half way down the page right under sheriffs notes. Allegany was the first to pass a resolution denouncing the safe act. They passed it jan 14 resolution 17-13 bottom of page. Board Minutes – Common formatting and phrases:.

Not voicing an opinion grants the Safe Act approval by silence. It also sets the stage for County Clerks NOT doing Quomo's dirty work for him. Prince Andy specifically stated that implementation of the Safe Act was not going to cost taxpayers a dime. But that's from the state budget perspective. What he failed (lied) to mention is some provisions of Safe Act compliance are unfunded mandates. In order to implement state laws the counties will be forced to raise taxes and increase fees to cover the funding gap. The counties will look like the bad guy and the teflon governor will look like he kept his promise.

Keep in mind, many state senators and state representatives who voted for the Safe Act are party tools (stools). I wouldn't put it past them to be so ignorant that they didn't see how the cost was pushed down to their county constituants. Given that the Safe Act was pushed through on a memo of necessity without a review/discussion period WE THE PEOPLE were not given the opportunity to pool our collective knowledge and educate the ignorant.

If they can get away with this, what crap will they pull next?

The resolutions also suggest a split in the political parties. Local town, city, county elections can easily go either way based upon popular vote. Unlike the governor's race the locals are very, very vulnerable at the polls. If people wash out at the county level of politics, there's near no way they can evolve to the state level. If there's a major political turn over at the local level there will be a lot of unhappy unemployed local ex-politicians with no future.

I will take repeal/defeat of the Safe Act any way I can get it, but it must be percieved as a political war. Wars are won by going on the offensive. Wars are won by winning battles. Battles are won by engaging tactics including attacking flanks and exploiting weak points of the enemy. But most of all battles are won by the grunts in the streets and trenches, the common person, the voter, the citizen like you and me.

Politics is war the problem is too many people are distracted and surrender to the bastards every November.
