Default Putnam Fish and Game- need some additional info

I am considering joining Putnam Fish and Game. It is a very short drive for me, much better than the 40 minutes to Shooters in CT. It is $485 for the first year without NRA membership. I am wondering if there are any other fees each year, other than the $125 yearly? Can I just show up, flash my membership card and go shooting or is there a daily fee as well?
Any members on here who can share their thoughts on this club? Thanks.

No other fees unless you want a locker. No other fees if you do work hours or you can buy them out for $100. Show up sign in at clubhouse, sign in sheet is outside. Go to the range swipe your ID and shoot. Range is closed Wednesday and Sunday at noon for trap shooting.

I'm on my 4th month of no answer yet after initial "looking to join" letter sent..i emailed a few days ago and they said still could be a couple more months before im even considered. So you may want to at least start the process of sending them the letter, cause you won't hear anything til after summer prob. And just incase you ponder Kent Fish n Rod, their not taking any new members as of this week when I checked..and i have friends as members in both clubs but that doesn't help the wait list.

Yes, I am very interested in Wooster. I have not gone there yet because I figured they are closed for winter. But, maybe not. They are open now on Sundays for pistol? Yes, Wooster would be right around 20 min for me. Aside from the initiation fee and extra fees for the first year, the Putnam Fish and Game sounds great. I have been on there wait list for a while and was told I will be sent a letter to come in soon.

I waited about 11 months for some spots to open up at PCFGA. Fee is very reasonable after your initial year. Work hours are easily handled also.

There's a fee for trap shooters, $3 for club members, $5 for guests.

Quite frankly I don't understand why anyone who lives nearby isn't a member, there's so much to offer for $125 a year.
    misunderestimated likes this.

Last I heard, about 6-8 months to become a new member, but I can't verify that as things are kept close to the vest by certain people.

I'll check at Friday nights membership meeting and get back to you on the timetable. We have a new membership secretary(Jan 1) and he might have better info, plus he's a good friend.

I received a response about a week ago. See below:

At this time we have a waiting list of about 50 people. The postmark on your letter of intent determines your position on the list. Applicants are being notified on a first come first served basis. Your request may take up to six months before you are invited to participate in a new member screening and orientation session. You should follow the instructions listed below.

50 people on the list is not that bad. It's worth the wait.

From Friday nights's generl membership meeting, what I heard.
They just sent notification to 40 people for the Jan 15 orientation, only 21 responded back. That's alot of people at one time, even if only 21. Next class in March.
No one knows how many people are waiting, they're still going thru the requests. Reportedly they have some paperwork going back 3 years, this from the membership secretary, though I'm sure those people gave up.
Record keeping has been atrocious, at best. They're going thru everything and will call people according to application date, no favorites, no BS.

There was some talk about limiting members but our By Laws prohibit that.
    You can email: [email protected]

To add, if you're not an NRA member, you'll be required to join AND maintain membership every year.

24 new members coming on board tomorrow night, next orientation in March, FYI.

I feel with the new committee chairs doing the screening and looking at the wait list, that things will be as fair as can be. It may take some time to correct some of the issues prevelant with the last group of folks controlling new member apps.
Sit tight, things are moving nicely, they want to expedite the list.

What and where is Wooster? Is it a private range that opens to public?

Yup i was August also. Still nodda. That would make me assume that arbita1 gonna be waiting til fall at minimum if we Augusts haven't heard yet. But like ladder13 said, all new people trying to do it right going forward, so we summer people may actually hear something pretty soon.all I know is, id be shooting every other damn day if i was a member.

It's the initial fee that kills it for me. I joined another club. A bit further away but certainly much more affordable.

You may all hear in the next few months. There was discussion at the membership meeting that they really want to push through the backlog and get the process moving more efficiently. Give them (new board members and committee heads) another couple weeks to get their processes in order and I think you'll hear.

New members are coming in, this March, May, July and Sept. I'd say you'll hear very soon, probably in March.
