Nice Board, Lots of useful info. Looking if anyone can fill in the gaps for Columbia county.

8/20 Picked up application
9/3 took NRA pistol class.
9/4 called for appointment to drop the application off and get finger prints.
10/2 dropped off application
10/20 references received there forms.

My understanding is once they get the references back, it goes off the to judge. Do they do the background check after the application is dropped off and before mailing out the reference forms? It doesn't look like there is any interview with the sheriff, that you just meet with the judge.
Can anyone correct my understanding, or is it correct?
Thanks Bob

Columbia County is pretty simple...once your packet has been received and the fingerprints done and references completed, it will take about 30-45 days...there is no interview with the judge, unless for some special reason they request it. You will receive a letter from one of the two judges regarding your approval and then a letter from the clerk's office on supplying info on pistols to be added to your permit. The judge will approve the pistols be added to your permit and the clerks office will contact you for a time to come in.

latest update.

12/9 Called to check on status, never received one reference form. Dropped off another addressed envelope for the reference.
12/14 reference received the form, and hand delivered to the sheriffs office.
1/8/21 called for status, they just finished the background check and everything was being forwarded to the judge.
2/22 Judge approved the application.
2/24 received the confirmation letter, paper work being sent to the county clerk, just need to wait to hear from her.
