Looking for information on Fulton County. How long from a drop off of your application for a 'review' before they call to schedule an appointment to 'Submit' the application? How long after that before the process is complete, and permit issued? I searched and couldn't find much. I know all the steps and the process, but they say a minimum of four months, yet a local shop told me about 8 weeks? I have also heard they suspended in person Judge / applicant interviews? Are they still mailing questionnaires to references? There is so much misinformation floating around, so I was looking for someone who recently went through this.
Since I didn't get a response, I figure I'll add my experience and update as we go:
Monday 10/26 - Dropped Off applications with references, certificate, passport photos, copies of DL and Gun Receipt to Civil Office for 'Review'
Awaiting call to schedule an appointment to 'Submit' the applications
Tuesday 10/27 - Called by Civil Office - Appointment Tomorrow to submit
Wednesday 10/28 - Met with Civil Office and Submitted application / Picture / paid etc. Scheduled Identogo for FingerPrinting
Thursday 10/29 - Identogo Fingerprinting etc.
Sunday 11/8 - Told by all references that they mailed the questionnaires back end of Prev Week (by 11/6)
Wed 11/25 - Call from Judges Chamber - Interview and additional documents they require (rules / safe storage etc. for the County)- signed, scanned, and returned.
I was told at this point - Paperwork goes to Judge, and she will decide / send results back to Civil Office - I should have a permit in two to four weeks.
So overall that would be six to eight weeks total.
I'll update with more info as I can.
Will update when I have more info. Hopefully this will be useful to someone.
I got mine 5 years ago and the whole process took 5 weeks. I have a friend going through it now and he was told 8 weeks but he said things were moving faster. I haven't spoken to him in a few weeks so I will get back with more concrete info.
Well that is encouraging. Ive heard from surrounding counties and 6-18 months elsewhere. A local shop told me about 8 weeks, but when I mentioned this to the civil office, the reply was something along the lines of I don't care what they told you, we put a minimum of four months on the paperwork for a reason. I'm sure they are just trying to prevent the constant calls to check on status etc.
All good news. Since we were interviewed by an attorney from the Judges Chamber - I'm guessing it will be a week or two before we get the permit in the mail. We are at week 5 as of tomorrow, but things may be a bit delayed due to Thanksgiving etc. Still much faster than I expected. Thanks for all the responses.
Congratulations, you did better than my friend. He has sportsman's restriction on his.
